Stewarding What God Has Given You
Ever feel like life is constantly pulling at you from all directions? Between responsibilities, obligations, and the endless demands of others, it’s easy to feel drained, distracted, and even depleted. But here’s the truth: God has entrusted you with five powerful resources, your Time, Energy, Attention, and Mind (T.E.A.M), and it’s your responsibility to protect them. Unlike popular belief, you do have a part to play.
The enemy knows that if he can get your mind, he can influence everything else, your time, energy, and attention. That’s why we must guard our thoughts, take them captive, and align them with God’s truth.
How Do You Protect Your T.E.A.M.
1. Guarding Your TIME: Learning to Say No So You Can Say Yes to God
Bible Verse: “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” – Psalm 90:12 (ESV)
Time is one of your most valuable, non-renewable resources. Once it’s gone, you can’t get it back. Yet, how often do we say “yes” to things that don’t align with our priorities, leaving us with no time for what truly matters?
Protect Your Time By:
• Prioritizing what aligns with your calling and values.
• Setting clear boundaries on commitments that drain you.
• Scheduling intentional time with God, family, and self-care.
• Using the power of “No” because “yes” to one thing is a “no” to something else.
Your time is a gift from God. Invest it wisely.
2. Guarding Your ENERGY: Stop Running on Empty
Bible Verse: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28 (ESV)
You can’t pour from an empty cup. Your energy is like a bank account, if you’re constantly withdrawing without depositing, you’ll end up spiritually, emotionally, and physically bankrupt.
Protect Your Energy By:
• Recognizing what drains you versus what refuels you.
• Prioritizing rest and recovery (yes, even Jesus rested!).
• Avoiding energy vampires—situations or people that constantly drain you.
• Staying spiritually filled through prayer, worship, and God’s Word.
Your energy is precious. Don’t waste it on things that God never called you to carry.
3. Guarding Your ATTENTION: Focusing on What Truly Matters
Bible Verse: “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” – Colossians 3:2 (ESV)
There are so many distractions around and the enemy loves to steal your attention. If he can keep you focused on the wrong things, comparison, social media, worry, or fear, he can keep you from being fully present in what matters most.
Protect Your Attention By:
• Being intentional about where you focus your thoughts and energy.
• Limiting distractions (social media, unnecessary drama, endless scrolling).
• Practicing mindfulness—fully engaging in the present moment.
• Keeping your mind fixed on God’s truth, not the noise of the world.
What you focus on grows. Choose wisely.
4. Guarding Your MIND: Renewing Your Thoughts Daily
Bible Verse: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” – Romans 12:2 (ESV)
Your mind is the control center of your life. If the enemy can fill it with fear, doubt, or limiting beliefs, he can keep you from walking boldly in your calling. That’s why God calls us to renew our minds daily and align our thoughts with His truth.
Protect Your Mind By:
• Taking every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
• Speaking life over yourself—using scripture-based affirmations.
• Being mindful of what you consume (news, social media, conversations).
• Surrounding yourself with people who uplift and challenge your thinking.
When your mind is strong, your decisions, emotions, and actions follow.
Your T.E.A.M. is Worth Protecting
At the end of the day, how you manage your Time, Energy, Attention, and Mind determines the quality of your life and the impact of your purpose. The enemy would love to see you exhausted, distracted, mentally stuck, and stressed, but God calls you to be a wise steward of these resources.
1. Which area do you need to protect the most right now? Take time to reflect and commit to setting up boundaries that honor God and your well-being. Your T.E.A.M. is worth protecting—because your purpose depends on it.
Now, go forth and guard your T.E.A.M.. like your calling depends on it because it does!
